Years ago, I moved from the West Coast to Boston for a new career opportunity. While my days were filled learning about a new industry, my nights were mostly free to explore the city. There was one thing that I knew I wanted to do right away - connect with startups and entrepreneurs who were creating big things.
Boston has always been a hot spot for revolutionary thinkers, but in the past ten years, there has been an explosion of organizations designed to help entrepreneurs turn ideas into reality.
Having spent the better part of the previous decade on stages and screens in L.A.—both behind and in front of the camera, and even more time writing, editing, rehearsing and observing the greats—I knew right away that I could help those who needed help with their pitch, so I started giving workshops. Since I had seen several called “the art of the pitch,” I decided to call mine “Stu(art) of the Pitch" to reflect that it was my approach to pitching.
Stu(art) of the Pitch started small. My first workshop was in 2012 and three people showed up. But it didn’t matter—all needed help crafting a pitch that would help them get to the next level—whether it was getting funded, finding meaningful business connections and/or acquiring new customers; for most, it was all of the above and then some.
Pretty soon I was meeting with founders from all industries: robotics, software, virtual reality, medical devices, food science, biotech, textile manufacturing, social enterprise and beyond. Moreover, I was being asked many difficult questions that I didn’t have the answers to. Eventually, I found experts and industry veterans who would share their insights. The network continued to grow.
Today, through workshops, talks and client engagements, I get to see hundreds of pitches a year. Over time, I’ve recognized a consistent and powerful pattern—the secret codex that lives at the core of truly powerful communication—the DNA of winning pitches.
Pitch DNA is a journey. It’s about discovering the building blocks of compelling communication and sharing them with those who are transforming their industry and the future.
Pitching is for everyone - it's about crafting powerful communication; the right message at the right time to the right people.
If you have an important idea to share, this site is for especially meant for you.
PS: We’ve got a lot of challenges this century and the clock is ticking. We're in this together, so let’s get to it!
